Felix Hansen from the Bischöfliches Pius-Gymnasium Aachen won the first place in physics at the "Jugend forscht - Schüler experimentieren" regional competition 2020 in Jülich on 14 February 2020. Within the framework of the Network Particle Physics, he has been working on a new calorimeter for the CMS experiment at CERN. Following his research stay in October 2019, Felix submitted his work "Models of machine learning applied to the energy estimation of particles in the CMS HGCAL L1 trigger" to Jugend forscht and won the 2020 regional competition in physics last Friday. Congratulations! The total of nine young researchers from Jülich and Aachen, who took first place among the 71 children and young people, will now compete in the next round at state level.
