IceCube Masterclasses 2017

On March 8 this year, 22 pupils from Belgian and German schools participated in the international IceCube Masterclasses 2017 at RWTH University. Within this program, they  came to know the everyday life and work of astro particle physicsists. After obtaining an overview over the Standard Model of particle physics, Cosmic Ray air showers and the IceCube experiment, they learned to analyse real data from the IceTop sub-detector to determine the energy spectrum of Cosmic Rays. To make the research day perfect, they finished the day by presenting and discussing their results with groups from other international universities.
