CMS
The Compact Muon Solenoid, or CMS for short, is one of the four major experiments that operate at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), at CERN in Geneva. It is one of the two experiments that discovered the long-sought Higgs boson.
The detector group has participated in building and running the inner silicon strip tracker. Current work is the development of detectors for the CMS Phase-2 Tracker of the CMS detector at the scheduled high luminosity LHC, HL-LHC. We focus on the development and production of new silicon strip detectors.
Spin-off projects have emerged from some work in the past years, such as detectors with SiPM readout for radiography with fast neutrons.
